Westminster Suite

The English composer Henry Purcell was born in Westminster in 1659 where he also died in 1695. Purcell was an important Baroque composer, writing both vocal and instrumental works. His compositions are still widely performed today.
Westminster Suite is based on three distinct works by Purcell. The festive opening section, Fanfare, is followed by the magnificent anthem from Funeral Music for Queen Mary. The suite closes with the well-known rondo from the Abdelazer Suite.
